| IOTA began working on revisions to the Occupational Therapy Practice Act on August 3, 2008. The proposed revision combines the current Idaho OT Practice Act with the AOTA Model Practice Act. On October 18, all OT practitioners were invited to participate in an interactive session to review the proposed changes. A Practice Act Task Force emerged from that meeting. It has been reviewed, revised, discussed and deliberated by OTs and OTAs from all practice areas and clearly represents the scope of practice for occupational therapy that will ensure delivery of the highest standards in client care.
The Occupational Therapy Act:
• Amends the OT Practice Act that was first adopted in 1988
• Sets forth in law the national model language so there is consistency in OT practice from state to state
• Provides continuing education, supervision and disciplinary requirements
• Moves the Licensure Board to the Bureau of Self Governing Agencies (Idaho Bureau of Occupational licenses) along with the other allied health professions
